First you have to sand with 120 grit paper and then wet sand it with 300 grit paper. Then you wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. Apply primer and paint.

Okay, the first thing that you want to do is go to AutoZone and get some Zip-Strip or something similar. Spray the car with it, then wait and use your garden hose to wash it off. Take care of any rust issues now. Next, apply an automotive paint primer and let it dry. I'd do two coats. Now just paint!

Make sure any dents are removed, holes are bonded and then make sure to prime the whole car before painting.

Your auto body should be very completely waahed to remove all traces of dirt and oil and lightly sanded to allow the paint to grip.

You do a ton of sanding, filling, cleaning, and taping. The body need to be perfect and every inch needs to be cleaned with solvent and tack cloth.
