How do you measure a countertop?

First make a diagram of your counter. That way you can note down the measurments in the right places. Measure from wall to wall--don't just measure your counter. Make sure you measure both along the front edge of the counter and the edge that abuts the wall.

If the countertop is standard depth front to back, it is measured in linear feet. Odd dimensions are usually measured in square feet instead.

A countertop is measured by measuring the length, the width and the thickness of it. So if it is thirty-five inches width, length of forty-two and the thickness of one inch.

Draw a simple sketch of the place where you want to make the counter. Use a regular tape measure for measuring the place in inches. Measure the width and length at the edge of the counter from the wall to the front of the counter. convert them in to square feet. Then we will get the measurement of the counter.
