How do you make your own heating pad?

I know that you can make a heating pad using rice and socks.

This is rather simple, you will want to fill a tube sock with about 4 cups of dry, uncooked long grain rice. If you have some dried lavender, add that too as it is very soothing, a teaspoon will do. Fasten the tube sock closed with a rubber band.

You can use a sock though it is often best to use a stronger fabric that take some abuse. Fill the tube with uncooked rice or beans and any fragrant items you wish, like lavender or vanilla. Then either stitch or tie the end close, making sure it is secure. Then heat it up in the microwave.

Fill a soft sock with uncooked rice (not instant rice, but regular rice) and tie a knot at the end of the sock to keep the grains inside. When you need it as a heating pad, warm it in the microwave for one minute, test the warmth, and then use.

Fill sock 2/3 full of rice. Sew the end closed. Slide it into the second sock sewn-end first (keeps rice from leaking out), then sew the second sock closed, making sure to catch the toe with a few stitches to hold in place. Microwave for 30 seconds to warm it.
