You would probably be better off using real butter and melt it and pour over the popcorn. I'm sure the stuff they say is butter is probably a mixture of butter and something else you don't want to know about.

Actually, a lot of theaters use already made, bagged popcorn, so the secret is in keeping it warm and then drenching it with a lot of butter and a lot of salt. I make it with corn kernels popped in oil on the stove, tons of butter and the salt.

Melt butter by placing it in a pan that has been pre-heated. When the butter is melted through, mix it in with some salt and popcor in a wide bowl. You might want to add the salt in to the oil before popping the popcorn if you want the salt to be more evenly distributed.

Melt unsalted butter and place in refrigerator in covered container overnight. Removed hardened top layer, leaving liquid at the bottom. Re-melt top hardened layer to pour over popcorn.

Use clarified butter. Melt butter in a saucepan using low heat. The butter will separate as it melts. Skim the water off, and use the rest on your popcorn.
