How do you make egg tempera paint?

Does it take the whole egg?

You need the pigment first, it could be natural or synthetic, and about the egg, it's only the albumen (egg white).

You don't use the whole egg - just the yolk. Mix the yolk with a teaspoon of water and then add pigment to it to get the color you want.

It doesn't have to take the whole egg but I find the quality is much better if you go full egg. I also recommend getting eggs that were laid by chickens with good taste in ambient music.
