You start out using an 11 x 11 piece of paper. Follow the traditional oragami crane pattern but double the length of folds 3, 7 and 9 and you're good.

There are many different variations of an origami man. You'll want to look at an origami book and purchase special origami paper to practice with.

There are several resources online that will walk you through the step by step folds needed to make and origami man. Your local library should also have origami books for check out. Before you begin any origami project you will need a plain or colored piece of heavy square cut paper.
