I take my grocery budget out in cash rather than using debit or credit. It forces me to stay within a set budget, makes me think about whether I can really afford that coffee or treat in the morning, and I often have change left over that can be saved and eventually rolled up for a bank deposit.

There are several ways to live frugally. Coupons are a great thing, but the bad thing about coupons is that people tend to buy things that they would not normally buy just because they have a coupon. This is a big no-no. If you would not buy it without a coupon, do not buy it just because you have one.

I have learned that you can eat well, yet eat cheaply. For instance, when you purchase meat, figure out how many meals you will get, rather than the price per pound. Using pole lamps, with several, adjustable lights. Using one adjustable light, gives off more lighting than several lamps.

To live on a budget: Never shop unless you specifically need something, double check your cart before check-out, don't purchase anything unless you actually need it and will use it within a week, make/use shopping lists, re-use and recycle as much as possible, and grocery shop weekly instead of daily.
