How do you know where to set the settings to on an amp?

I suggest turning all of the knobs so that the marking lines indicate that the knob s halfway between the lowest setting and the highest.

It's all experimental. Basically, the idea is to amplify the sound not mutate it. Start with the settings in the middle and adjust until it sounds right. If their is boomyness then adjust for less lows. If the sound is shrilly, then adjust for less high. If it sounds like the sound is in the bathroom, they adjust the mids.
