You will want to get a book with pictures of antique Coca-Cola coolers. Most coolers older than 10 years can be considered antiques, people don't often same them. The Coca-Cola logo changes often so identifing them should be easy.

Inspect the cooler closely. Look for the brand stamp under the coca-cola name. Turn the cooler aroud and upside down because even a cooler in excellent condition will show some signs of it's age on the bottom or inside. Next be sure to ask the dealer about the history of the piece.

The antique coolers have a definite style. They should be designed to hold those 8 oz. glass bottles--these are only about a third of the size of a regular coke today. They also will have old fashioned paintings, perhaps a polar bear, with the logo.

The construction of the coolers is the indication. They are often heavier than usual due to he metal in them and the type of insulation. And the paint will have a darker red.
