The Collared Dove is medium sized and has a grey to pinkish-grey coloring. The dove's most identifying characteristics are the thin white and thick black stripes across the nape of the neck. This identifier gives them their name, the Collared Dove.

I believe that the name says it all, the collared dove have the dark (sometimes purple or grey) collar around their necks. Where as other doves have spots, stripes, or other markings. They also have the light grey body, as opposed to the white or darker grey of their cousins.
