Your best bet would be to call someone who is qualified to treat your water well. The issue may not be what it seems and could be damaged further from inexperience. Some professionals will give you an estimate to determine what is wrong with the well and how much it will cost for the issue to be remedied.

The DNR should be contacted. Some simple tests can be performed. A glass of water set it in a window for one day and watched for sediment. Next, pour the water on a clean white cloth. A yellow stain is contamination. A ring of black is a different contamination.

There are sanitation tablets that you can put into your well to help with sanitation of the water. Well water is essencially ground water. Any plumbing company can also help.

water well problems should be attended to by your local city utility company. alot of times wells are located on unstable grounds and are trmendously old. be safe
