How do you go about replacing rear struts on a Grand Prix?

You have to open the truck and pull do the inner upholstery. The strut assembly is bolted down there, and will be held in place by four bolts. Remove them and then take the wheel off. So you can keep compression on the strut assembly. I suggest a spring compressor if you are going to use the same springs.

If you can, have a professional do this, replacing struts can be dangerous if youre doing it for the first time. Jack the car up and remove the tires to eliminate some of the weight, be sure to remove the old struts with caution then replace with the new ones.

This is a fairly difficult repair. If you consider yourself a novice i would suggest consulting a licensed mechanic, or at the very least referring to the user manual that came with your car. You'll need to remove the rear struts on the back of your vehicle. You'll need a set of sockets.

First time beginners should have a professional to replace struts. The car will have to be jacked up so it want be so much weight pressure. Compress strut and put new struts on. Take caution while removing the old ones.

Well typically all you need to do is remove the wheel, compress the strut, and remove it. Then just compress and install the new one in it's place.

If you beginner I advise a professional to do them cause this is a dangerous job if you have never did them before. Jack car up, remove some tires so it want have so much weight. Be careful moving the old ones and put the new ones on.
