How do you go about attracting bats?

I am hoping they will eat the mosquitoes in my yard.

The best way is by using a man made water feature - small pond, etc. This attracts bugs and bats will be drawn there. Trees on your property will attract them at night - you can also build a bat house. Instructions can be found online.

The bats will need a dark place to rest during the day and a ready source of water. Putting up a bat box, you should find one at your local hardware store, and pond or bird bath should do the trick (though make sure to replace the water regularly, mosquitoes breed in standing water).

You can either build a bat box or purchase one. I would make sure no outside lights are on at night. You could also research some plants that attract bats that may help bring them into your yard.

One effective way to attract bats to come and live on your property is to set up a "Bat house". These are simple wooden boxes, mounted on a tall pole and should be set up at least two hundred feet from your home in order to keep the bats from nesting in your house.
