Jock itch is caused by a fungus, which requires treatment with an anti-fungal. This often requires a prescription, but there are some anti-fungals on the market (Lotrimin, for example) that you should be able to buy OTC.

Washing the area and drying thoroughly followed antifungal lotion, spray or ointment for jock itch. Wear loose fitting clothing, preferable cotton underwear for absorption of moisture. If the over the counter aids don't work, it may be necessary to seek medical treatment from a physcian who can order prescription medicaton.

Jock itch is a fungal infection like athlete's foot. There are sprays on the market for the treatment. Keep the area dry and clean because warm and moist places encourage the growth of jock itch. Changing your underwear a few times a day can help. If it's chronic, see your doctor.

You'll usually have to treat jock itch with some sort of anti-fungal powder or cream. Usually you need to go to your doctor for a prescription for it. You might be able to find something over the counter. Make sure your undergarments are clean and dry. It's probably best to go see a doctor at this point.

Jock itch is a common complaint that is irritating but fairly easy to treat. There are many antifungal creams, sprays and powders that can be purchased without a prescription. If they don't work, see your doctor who can give you a prescription for a stronger anti-fungal cream.
