How do you get captions on a TV connected with HDMI to a cable box?

Captions should be included as an optional broadcast layer of the video signal. Many HD programs, however, are not yet captioned due to broadcaster slowness in upgrading their technology. Try connecting both your HDMI and regular cables to your TV, and you might need to switch between inputs when you want captions.

Captions are always done by the television. You should have a button on your remote (you may have to search for it, or use the menu option).

You can set it on the TV or box, but on the TV: If you go to "caption" settings, you should be able to enable it there.

I have a Mistubishi 52 DLP TV that has the HDMI output on it but I can't get it to work. I had my cable company come in, switch the box, and still no luck. I even went out and "exchanged" the originial HDMI cable for another one and STILL same result.
