You get Italian citizenship in a variety of ways. You can be born Italian, you can apply for it if you are not beyond second-generation foreign-born Italian, you can marry an Italian citizen and apply after a period of time, or you can live in the country for 10 years.

You may be able to get Italian citizenship if you have an Italian citizen within four generations of your direct ancestry. Marrying an Italian citizen is another possibility.

Well you have to be out there for a time. At least a couple of years. And you have to know the Italian very well and to answer a couple of questions before you take the citizenship /
