How do you get a permanent resident visa?

You go to the USCIS website and see under which criteria you wish to apply (work based, family based... etc). You then look at your options and compare which are easier for you to apply with - it helps to have a sponsor who is 25% above the poverty rate of his or her country. Also look at expat forums.

You get a permanent resident visa if you came here with someone applying for you called a file also known as Family visas or the other way is to get married to someone else who is already a citizen of this country. You can also get work visas and than get green card
