How do you fix a leaky bathroom sink?

Turn off the house main water supply, unscrew the faucet that is leaking, look inside and there'll be a rubber O ring or the remains of one, this needs replaced. Install the replacement and screw the faucet back in. Turn the water supply on. If this does not fix it, you may need to replace the on/off valve itself.

This is probably caused by a worn washer, or by a worn valve seat or missing packing. Remove the handle and stem and replace the washer at the bottom.
