How do you figure out the greatest common factors?

To find the GCF of two numbers, write out the factors of each number, then find the largest factor that both have in common.

The greatest common factor is the largest number that goes in evenly to two numbers. For example, the greatest common factor of 21 and 49 would be 7 because it's the largest number that goes in to both.
