A magnolia tree is like any other tree though it could give beautiful flower blooms of pink. It could thrive on different types of soils though fertilization is sometimes needed to ensure its health. Optimum sunlight and moisture is also needed.

The best way to ensure the growth of a plant is to give it what it needs. This specific tree is typically low maintenance but prefers well drained acidic soil (between 4.6-6,0) and full sunlight to partial shade and grows in zones 4a through 9b. If desired pruning and fertilization may be done but is not necessary.

Tulip magnolias are very hardy trees, you really shouldn't have to do much. Just plant it and watch it go perfect magnolia tulips.

Remove all little growths that will appear at the base of the plant. Trim diseases like the canker. Make sure that the plant will receive enough sunlight.

The main thing to watch for is "sucker growth". These are the little new growths that will start at the base and also in the tree. Make sure you prune these off, ensuring that the nutrients go to the larger branches.
