Cut the lavender stems where they are still green (avoid the woody part). Tie them in a bundle and hang them flowers-down in a dark, dry place for 1 week.

Lavender can be dried by taking cuttings and hanging them upside down to dry. You can use a clip or a clothes pin to hold a bunch of the stalks together, or tie them at the base with twine and then hang the stalks upside down.

Lavender is greatly appreciated for it's divine smell. The only thing that is used are the flowers. For drying there have to be 2/3 of the flowers opened on the pedicle. The pedicles are them wrapped in a bunch and let to dry in a cool and dark place. The smell will last for a year.
