How do you draw in Illustrator?

Illustrator isn't really a tool for drawing but for refining and publishing stuff. You can draw and move things around but it was more meant for vector art. Stuff that basically is all in one part. You can hit the pencil tool and start there then move over to the pen tool if you really want to draw.

Illustrator is a vector drawing program, you can use the different tools provided like the Line Segment, Pen , Rectangle , Paintbrush , Scale, rotate and Warp tools to manually create your drawings from scratch. If you do want to start with a sketch you've done in paper, you can manually scan it first then put it to Illustrator.
