Love, patience and affection. A little food wouldn't hurt either. Most cats will eventually come to like living with people if their needs are met.

Break the cat in slowly to the new household. Try feeding the cat while petting the cat. This will reasure them and show them you're not trying to steal their food. Keep petting the cat as much as it will let you, and try holding the cat whenever it will let you. Just let it know it's safe.

You just have to take your time and be gentle with it. Eventually the cat will start to trust you and act relaxed.

This is a long process. First feed for several days, then stay closer to the food bowl as you feed. For a week or more, just sit near the cat; then, let it approach you. Reach out a hand, but do not grab or chase the cat. It will settle down.

The best thing to do is to allow the cat to get use to his surroundings and you and eventually he will come around to accepting you.

It is hard to domesticate a wild house cat, but with patience you can do it. There is always going to be a part of him that will be feral. You can build trust by providing it food, shelter and acceptance. It will eventually be domesticated.
