Usually all you need is a tape recorder and a blank tape. You go to a place that is believed to have spiritual activity and you try speaking to the spirits around you. If they respond, you normally will play back the tape and hear it later.

Find the place where you want; the best time to record is sometime in the early morning as it's dark and not much goes on. Then set up the machine, hooking the microphone up to the machine. Then, it's only a matter of transferring to a computer.
