How do you determine the right deadbolt size?

The right size of deadbolt should be determined more or less on the size of the door with consideration to the amount of weight it is able to withstand. The deadbolt on an inside door such as a closet would be used mainly to keep the door from falling open and would only require a small weight limit.

If there is a hole for it to go in, you can get different pegs of different pre-determined sizes and find the peg that fits in best.
