How do you determine cat ages?

We just found a cat, and I can't figure out how old it is.

A cat's age is usually determined by its teeth. Just to give you an example that might help, a 3-5 yr old cat will show tartar buildup and tooth wear

A cat is full grown after two years, generally speaking. Some are full grown earlier. Before this, it's easy to tell. Bad teeth are a sign of aging, as are certain problems like arthritis. If the cat seems healthy it's safe to guess between 2 and 7.
