How do you determine an evaporation rate?

It is difficult to measure the actual rate of evaporation without advanced sensors. A crude way to measure it would be to mark the current position of the liquid and the position after a period of time, and determine the volume lost during that time period. Volume/Time = evaporation rate.

Essentially you will have to do it experimentally, use a known volume of water under your fixed conditions and measure how long it takes to happen. There are way too many variables to easily do it using a single calculation such as temperature, altitude, humidity, surface area, etc.
