First digit is the country of origin. Second represents the manufacturer. 3rd represent the make. Fourth digit is a safety code, depending upon safety equipment the vehicle has. Digits 6 through 9 indicate options and trim levels. 10th digit identifies the vehicle year model. 11th digit represent the factory the vehicle was assembled. Last six, represent the assembly sequence.
