How do you deal with a mom who has a need to control everything?

My mom is a helicopter mom, she has to be involved in every aspect of my life.

This is a very difficult situation, not easy to solve. Won't be enough having an open discussion about this, her behaviour comes from something very deep that maybe she herself is not aware of-could be the fear of losing something dear, or lack of trust in her child. First step is showing her you are trustworthy, reliable, acting grown-up like.

Try talking to her about it, and tell her you don't like it. If that doesn't work, move out of the house. If that doesn't work, move out of the city. She may not even know she's bothering you unless you let her know. You have to let her know there's a problem.

Mothers like this think they are doing what is best; so, the best thing to do is to sit her down and gently explain that you feel she needs to loosen up a little on her grip over you. Explain that you know that she is only doing what she thinks is best, but that you need to live.
