How do you date Melba China? Is there a list of marks somewhere?

I have several pieces from my grandmother.

Melba China is pottery produced from 1948. to 1951. Original producer was Melba China Co Ltd in Stafford St Longton. The problem about dating is that few more producers use word Melba in name of their pottery products they produced pottery wits this name from beginning of 20th century. The easiest way to date is to find information about producer.

Look at the bottom of the piece. If there is a small fish, it dates from the 1880's. If there are two fish it's newer. If you see a dragon it probably dates from the 1850's.

The china has markings that help indicate its time period. A price guide for collectibles or an antiques dealer can determine age and worth of your pieces.
