Using an electric hair clipper, start by clipping the top of his hair to the desired length. From there, work downward, gradually shaving more closely to his scalp. It's best to work in a brightly lit area so you can see your progress. This is a fairly easy hair cut, but could take a while for first timers!

If you want to cut a high top fade, then you need to hold the scissors at an angle and cut very slowly. Hair should only be cut when it is dry. If the hair is cut when it is wet then the hair will shrink back up when it dries giving a much shorter cut.

Use the clipper guard of your choice (the shorter the better results) Take the clippers from the nape area all the way up keeping the clippers completely paralell until his head starts to curve. do this all the way around making sure to keep the clippers straight up and down.

Let his hair grow out as much as possible. Once he has enough hair cut the fade along the sides and back, leaving it dark at the top.

To cut a high top fade, you'll cut just like you would with a regular fade but keep the hair longer on top. You want it to be extremely short around the ears and neck and gradually get longer and longer as you get to the top of his head.

First trim above ears and neck with clippers and a low guard (#2). Use scissors to cut the top even. Use clippers and a blending guard to even the middle.
