The most important first step is to take anti-inflammatory medications. This will decrease swelling and pain. Then use heat to also decrease swelling. Massaging the area is also useful. It gets blood flow back to the area. The next step is to start doing exercises to regain range of motion.

Treatment for adhesive capsulitis should be sought after immediately otherwise you have the risk of it becoming permanent. It can be treated with anti-inflammatory medication, a cortisone injection and vigorous physical therapy. The combination of these should treat the frozen shoulder and can help restore natural movement in the shoulder after time.

If you leave a "frozen shoulder" without treatment for too long it can often become permanent. There is no cure. See your doctor right away for treatment.
