Viral infections are not readily cured. Depending on which area of the body is infected. Skin infections respond to dry heat ,internal infections are more severe and require IV therapy.

Unless you are talking about of the handful of life-threatening viral infections that would justify the cost of incredibly expensive antiviral medications, the typical treatment of a viral infection is for the symptoms (such as fever) while allowing the body's immune system to fight the infection itself.

Antiviral medications exist, but they tend to have serious side effects, and they only work for certain viruses. For any viral infection, you need to see a doctor right away.

In some cases, antivirals exist. You take an antiviral and it will prevent the virus from being able to infiltrate the cells of the body and replicate. In other cases, such as with the common cold and many stomach viruses, you have to wait it out and manage the symptoms.

Viral infections can be treated with antivirals but since a virus hosts cells, it is very difficult to get rid of.

There are some medications for viral infections, most of the time you just need to let it run its course. Just keep yourself as comfortable as possible and drink plenty of fluids. If you just cant stand it anymore you can go to and get some syclivor it will kill the virus.
