Torrent files aren't supposed to be converted. They hold tracker data that is useless to other programs. The file is used by a bittorrent program to download the wanted data.

A torrent file isn't exactly a working file per-se. When you download a torrent file the file will open in your torrent application (ie utorrent, bittorrent, etc. ) When the torrent finishes you are given the file types. Mp3, avi, exe, etc. Read the torrent description for file info.

Torrent files can't be converted: they aren't the actual data you're looking for. A torrent is just a pointer to a file, that will be used by special softwares to find the data you want. You can install µTorrent to read a torrent file and download what it points to.

A way to convert torrent files is by using a program called DivX converter. This should convert the files to the correct file type for you to enjoy.
