One converts feet to square feet in the process of calculating area. You get square feet by multiplying two different measurements of feet by each other. For example, if a square table is seven feet wide by seven feet long, the area of the table would be: seven times seven, which equals forty nine.

You really can't. Feet are a measure of length, while square feet are a measure of area. For a rectangle the area is length x width.
