Run the antenna cables from their respective antennas to a cable splitter/signal combiner box which can be purchased at hardware stores. Run the one line out to your tv.

Use a splitter. It's a small box that has an input connection or IN FROM on one side of it and two out going connections or OUT TO connections on the other side. Hook the signal cable into the In from connection and the two antennas to the out to connections.

The signal just needs joined much like the electric current. By joining the antennas by a wire or something that can conduct you will cross the frequency and make it now one joined antenna

They do make a box that can combine two signals into one - it's not the kind of thing you can usually buy at Home Depot or Radio Shack, but you should be able to find an Antenna combiner online.

This is very easy to do. You just need to use a splitter to combine the two antennas and voila.
