Use some club soda - liberally on the area, but test first on a hidden pice (like in the back of the closet) to be sure the club soda doesn't ruin the carpet. Also, try some hydrogen peroxide, after testing it first.

You can lift red wine stains by combining a teaspoon of Dawn dish soap or carpet shampoo a half cup of hydrogen peroxide. Use a sponge and gently blot the stain with solution until stain lifts.

Wine stains are some of the toughest stains to get out of carpet. One thing that you can try is seltzer water or club soda. If that doesn't work - try a concentrated water and baking soda mixture. If that doesn't work, I would buy a carpet cleaner that says it can clean that type of thing.

Unfortunately, the wine may have died the carpet. If this is the case, you may have to hire a professional to redye the carpet. If this is not the case, you should first spray the area heavily with a good quality carpet spotter. Let it set for about 5 minutes. Then dab at the spot with a white towel.
