Vinegar works very well to remove oily residue on glass. Rubbing alcohol also works well. Saturate a rag with either of the above, and place the rag on the top of the pipe for about an hour, then rub it with the rag. You may need to repeat this step a few times, or re saturate with the alcohol.

Usually you can clean the top of a glass pipe by using a pipe cleaner with cloth and some cleaning solutions. If the top of it is too high to reach then you can just hire someone to do it for you. Sometimes you can get some spray that will dissolve the grime.

We can clean a glass pipe with distilled white vinegar instead of Alcohol. Another very simple way to clean a pipe that has been clogged up by resin, and or bits of plant material. It takes a little time with patience and care.
