Read reviews of computers online. Compile a list of computers that have good reviews across many sites. Compare each computer's specifications and choose which computer has the best hardware configuration that meets your needs. Do not forget to take price into account as some cheaper computers can be a steal.

There is not a certain computer that is the best for everyone. The best one for you will be the one that has the features and speed that you need. You may need one that has a lot of storage space or a certain program.

What are you going to be using the computer for? Is it just Internet and email, letter writing, basic use? Then you don't need a high end PC, so aim for the lower end. Are you hoping to play the latest games? Then you will need a high end PC.

Basically you just good with what you need. Not everyone needs the top of the line computer. Depending on what you will be doing with it you can narrow down your choices. Just make sure it has all the stuff you need.

If you are unsure about what to look for, just read computer reviews for big brand names such as Dell, Hewlett Packard and Toshiba. They'll narrow down your search.

You should ask yourself for what do you need the computer for. If you plan to travel with it, you should go with a laptop but a desktop is generally cheaper. Choose a notable manufacturer, this helps if you face problems with the computer.
