Raise the hood and remove the oil cap. Raise the vehicle, locate the drain plug and remove it, catching the oil in a pan. Replace when empty. Remove the oil filter, make sure the gasket comes with it, and replace the new one. Refill with oil, and check the level.

In general a repair like this isn't easy for someone considers themselves a "novice". If you consider yourself this, you should consult your user manual or call your local mechanic.

I suggest taking it to a certified lube tech. If something goes wrong after the change your covered as far as the oil says so. For example 10k mileage, or 30k mileage. If you want to do it yourself, jack up the front end, located the oil pan, remove the bolt, drain, and replace the filter.
