How do you calculate 95% confidence in math?

To calculate confidence you should use the confidence interval. For example if you need a confidence level of 95 percent, you should be able to use a formula like x * y * 100 = 95. If you are doing an experiment you use (v_1 + v_2)/v_1 * 100

Mathematically, you can't. Confidence is purely qualitative, where mathematics in itself is purely quantitative. The only way you could make a mathematical representation of confidence would be through a statistical analysis of a psychological profile showing a 95% confidence rating on a scale invented for the psychological analysis itself.

You determine the appropriate probability distribution, the test statistic, and construct an interval that the test statistic will occupy with a 95% probability.

95% is almost a whole. This percentage would be 95 out of 100, or .95 in fraction form. A whole is only .05 away, so 95% confidence is almost all the way.
