Start by excavating your patio of all grass. Next fill the area with 4 inches of sand. Place the bricks in your desired designed then top with filler sand and tamp.

Prepare the site by digging out a base about 7-8 inches deep. Lay a gravel base and tamp down for an even surface. Install an edging to secure the bricks in place, add an even layer of sand and then the bricks. Finally, fill in spaces around bricks with sand.

The easiest way is to get a truckload of bricks, make sure that the ground has been turned up and all plants removed, then simply place the bricks in the loose dirt. Leave about a quarter-inch between the bricks as you go. Then gently tamp the bricks down.

The simplest way is to peepare a level bed of crushed fine stone or compacted sand. Lay bricks together tightly and brush excess sand into joints.
