How do you become a certified addiction counselor?

I have dealt with and helped a lot of people close to battling addictions. I feel like I have a gift with this and I can help a lot of people.

Your first step would be to get accepted into a Master's program in professional counseling. From there, certification is available through the National Board of Certified Counselor's. You should be aware that each state has it's own set of counseling licensure requirements, which you would be required to comply with.

The become a certified addiction counselor, you will need a master's level degree in a behavioral health field. To be accepted into this type of program you should major in a related field, such as psychology or sociology for your undergraduate program. In addition, you will need to obtain licensing in accordance with the your state's regulations.

The first thing you need to have is a Bachelor's degree in either the field of Psychology or Sociology. After that try attending or obtaining a Master's degree in Addiction Counseling. The next process will vary upon the state you reside, you can eventually get certification in addiction counseling and you should also have a counseling license.

Depending on the state, appropriate training must be completed. That may include a bachelors degree in Human Resources, Psychology or Social Work. Included in that; a certificate or associates degree in addiction counseling, possible internship, state licensing exam and no use of drugs, alcohol or other addictions. While in college, look into classes in Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, etc.

In order to be recognized as a certified counselor, you would need to first graduate college with a degree in behavioral health/ substance abuse counseling. Then after getting a bachelor's, you would be required to achieve a master's usually while interning at a behavioral health facility. Then you would be able to go at it alone.

Well, you have to get a certification as a social worker. Go to school and take courses in sociology and human justice. Get a bachelor of arts degree in your field. Also gain some more professional experience in a clinic and you are well on the path to helping people.
