How do you avoid a cluttered office?

I can't seem to keep my office clean.

Get a good office organization system going. Have a place for everything. Always file your papers right after you're done working on them. You can keep a paper tray for projects that you're working on so you know where they are at all times. Have places for your pens and office supplies to avoid the clutter.

Separate all of the clutter into groups. Trash needs to be deposed of initially. After you have separated all of the papers. Purchase folders or bins to organize better.

You should organize your papers. All the paper you don't need you should throw it away. Also, get a shelf and put all your papers in one spot that are important to you.

You should get a filing cabinet. If you have one just be sure to file things away and mark them carefully so you always know where everything is.
