Finches like to eat niger thistle seed. You can find special feeders for finch food in stores that sell bird seed. Also put a pan of water out.

Yellow finch, being a very small bird, are often the target of larger more aggressive animals. The best way to see them is to set up a thistle feeder infront of a window where you can watch with out disturbing them.
