Depending on the satellite provider there is usually bundled software in the set top box that will guide you through this. Check the menus during installation, or the owners manual. Most likely there will be a signal strength indicator that shoes on the television to help you dial in the direction. (you will need two people for this usually)

When you get a satellite dish you should have someone from the company install it for you, it isn't safe to install this by yourself. If you are installing by yourself, then aiming it anyway should be fine. If it doesn't work then rotate the dish, do not aim it towards trees.
