First of all, check your plumbing and foundation for any cracks that are creating moisture - silverfish like damp areas and feed on the mold that grows there. Run a dehumidifier if the areas stay moist. Lastly, spraying the perimeter of your foundation with insecticide can keep silverfish out.

Before resorting to chemicals it may be possible to get rid off the silverfish by blocking off any holes in the walls or skirting boards. Dry out moist areas.

Because Silverfish love moisture and will destroy material, drapery, and books, you must reduce the moisture in the area that they are living in. Plug up crevices with silicone caulk or putty. Poisons you can put out include: Borax, diatomaceous earth, and insecticidal dust. Put any books infested into zip lock bags, with a drying agent, in a freezer .

Considering that this pest loves moisture, keep things and areas dry in your house especially where water could be found like in bathrooms, sinks and in plumbing systems. This way, they would not have the breeding ground for their food which is molds. Chemical treatment could also be used.
