The three basic conditions for typhoon formation are a warm ocean (>27°C), a warm wind, and the coriolis effect, causing deflection of winds. As ocean water evaporates, it rises in a spiraling fashion due to the coriolis effect. Rising of air creates lower pressure that draws more air in (increasing wind speed), and the system intensifies.

A typhoon forms when several conditions are met. There must be low pressure that moves over warm water. A low pressure becomes a tropical depression when it has surface circulation.
