Because the Constitution gives each state the right to choose its own electors, exact procedures vary by state. Generally, people are nominated by their state political parties to be electors.

In most states, you must be selected by the party caucus or the political party to become an elector. These individuals are either selected by the political party precinct chair or elected by the political party members at the state convention. Contact your local political party to learn their selection process.
