Dear Sir/Madam: I am writing this letter to inform you of my interest in a job that was posted in the New York Times. I would like to be considered for an interview for this position. I have attached my resume for your consideration. Thank you. Yours Sincerely, Florence Meddlicott

Research the company so that you can describe what you like about the company. Don't repeat your resume--just mention the items that are related to the job you want. Be sure you focus on your desire to be of service to the business--be other-oriented instead of self-centered.

The most efficient, and perhaps the most effective way to write a letter of interest for a new job (which is also a cover letter) is to use a cover letter template from Microsoft Word. A person can simply fill in the blanks of the template with their information and a professional cover letter is complete.

The most important thing in writing a letter of interest to a potential employer is to show you are interested in them specifically. Your letter should include information about yourself and how you are a good fit for them in particular.
